Bringing National Reach and Local Enquiries Together for ElectriGate

Promoting a New Electric Gate Concept Across the UK

Marketing a national brand that delivers a very local service

Every so often we work with a client whose model doesn't fit the usual local SEO template, and ElectriGate is a good example. The client isn't an installer. They act as the marketing agent for a network of independent electric gate installers across the country, generating enquiries in each installer's own area and passing them to the person best placed to carry out the work. The client also wanted to grow that network, which meant the campaign had two audiences from the outset: homeowners looking for electric gates, and skilled installers looking for a steady flow of local work.

That dual purpose shaped everything we did. A national brand still has to win searches that are, in practice, intensely local. Someone with a long driveway in Cheshire isn't looking for a national supplier. They want someone who can come out, measure up, and fit a gate that works with their ground levels, their posts and their power supply. Our job was to make the client visible for those searches nationwide, while making sure every enquiry that came through felt local to the person making it.

Understanding what electric gate customers are actually searching for

We focused the content around four search themes, each one representing a different customer at a different point in their decision.

Someone typing electric gates near me is usually close to the enquiry stage. They've decided they want automation and now they want a person, not a product. Proximity is the whole point of that search, so the site needed content that made ElectriGate's coverage genuinely clear rather than vaguely national. We built out location relevance across the areas the installer network covers, so Google could connect the brand to real places rather than treating it as a generic supplier.

A search for automatic gate installation tends to come earlier. These customers are still weighing things up: swing versus sliding, underground versus above-ground motors, what happens in a power cut, whether their driveway slope is a problem. This is where thin content costs enquiries. We developed the pages properly, explaining the process, the survey stage and the practical considerations, because a customer who understands the job is a far better prospect for the installer receiving the lead.

Electric gate repairs was an important addition for a different reason. Repair searches carry real urgency, often from people whose gate has failed and who need it working again quickly. It's also an excellent route into the network for installers, since repair work builds relationships that turn into replacement jobs later. Giving this its own proper focus opened up a steady stream of enquiries that a pure installation strategy would have missed entirely.

The fourth theme, electric gate installers, works in two directions. Homeowners use it to find someone to do the work, but so do tradespeople researching how they might pick up more of it. We made sure the site answered both, with clear content for customers alongside a well-signposted route for installers wanting to join the network.

Local relevance without local offices

A national brand can't build map pack visibility everywhere, and pretending otherwise is one of the quickest ways to waste a client's money. Google Business Profile rewards genuine physical presence, and the client doesn't have offices in every town.

So we approached it the other way around. The GBP opportunity sits with the installers themselves, and we've been supporting network members to set their profiles up properly: correct primary category, accurate service areas, well-written service descriptions, and a habit of adding photos of completed gates. Those profiles pick up the local map visibility the national brand can't, while the website carries the broader organic and AI-generated search results. The two work together rather than competing, and it means every installer gets something of lasting value from being in the network.

Using social media to grow the network

Social media has done much of the heavy lifting on the recruitment side. Installers, welders and automation engineers already gather in trade groups on Facebook, and that's where the conversation about lead generation naturally happens. Rather than running cold adverts, we've focused on showing genuine examples of the work coming through and letting existing members talk about their experience. On the customer side, before-and-after content performs consistently well. Electric gates are a highly visual purchase, and seeing a finished installation on a property much like your own does more to prompt an enquiry than any amount of specification detail.

Turning visibility into enquiries

The measure of success here was never rankings on their own. It's whether an installer in a given area opens their inbox to find a qualified enquiry from someone within reasonable driving distance who already understands roughly what the job involves. By aligning the website with the way customers genuinely search, supporting installers with their own Google Business Profiles, and using social channels to grow the network, we've helped the client build something that scales locality by locality.
